Old School RuneScape clans have been an unofficial thing for as long as the game existed, but in 2021 Jagex made it official and introduced the new clan system. While there are various platforms where you can find OSRS clans if you want to join one, this new OSRS Clan Spotlight series will bring you a different insight into what to expect from some of the top OSRS clans, with unique interviews with the clan leadership.

Dreamchasers is a medium to large international OSRS clan of over 300 members who enjoy doing both PvM and PvP activities together. Glocss, the clan owner, agreed to answer a few questions about Dreamchasers and bring light on how things started, changed over time, and are now.

What inspired you to start your own clan in OSRS?

In April 2023, I was struggling to find friends/other players to do things with in the game, like PvM, PvP, skilling, and overall just hangout and grind together. I finally decided, with the help of some friends of mine (Lucy and Cartoon) that we would make our own Clan and build it into something meaningful and worthwhile.

What differentiates your clan from other clans in OSRS?

DreamChasers has always been more of a family than a Clan. It may sound cliche, but seriously, we have been through a lot together in just the last 17 months that we’ve been active. Especially for those who have stuck around for a while, they can attest that this Clan has helped them get through some tough times both in real life and in-game. We all know each other and we are extremely receptive to new members. Also, the diversity in our Clan is one of the best parts, in my opinion. We have members from all over the world and its awesome to meet and talk with people from other countries while we play the game that brought us all together.

How would you describe the overall culture and atmosphere of your clan?

Like I said, the culture and atmosphere is one of diversity and fun. We have people from everywhere and from all walks of life. We have professionals who are doctors and police officers in the day, others who are students, and some even with kids and families of their own. It’s great to get to know the team and then talk about what we have going on together. I love our Clan’s culture that we’ve built so far.

Can you share a particularly memorable event that your clan has organized?

Recently our Clan had its first “DreamChasers Clan Bingo.” It was by far our best event yet! Each team had 15 people, and we all competed together and against the other team to complete a bingo board with some seriously hard tasks! Things like: Any pet, 2x purple raids, Wilderness ring set, Venator bow from scratch, Nex unique, Full arma, and much more! It was intense and we competed to the very end. The whole Clan had so much fun and had tons of positive reviews when it was all said and done. The winning team received over 500M in prizes.

What types of events and activities does your clan regularly host?

Every week or 2 we release a poll to vote on the next event and the next SOTW. (Skill of the Week) We try to do atleast 2-3 SOTW’s per month, and each one we offer about 100-150M in prizes for the top 10 winners. For events, we have done so many different things. Some that we really love to do are: Mass Callisto Hunt, Castle Wars Tournament, Clan TOA runs, Hide & Seek, Clan GWD, Tempoross, House Party/Fashionscape Contest, and Wilderness trips.

What events you haven’t done already but are eager to host in the future?

Two events I’d like to see organized in the future are: 1) OSRS Prop Hunt (everyone installs the prop hunt plug-in and we hunt/hide as props in a chosen city. 2) Mass Clan War against another Clan where we all fight until the last man standing.

What’s the biggest drama or conflict you’ve had to deal with as a clan owner, and how did you resolve it?

There have been several conflicts and dramatic situations during my leadership of DreamChasers, but now it is rare for something to happen like it used to. The worst time was when I had partnered our Clan with another Clan and I needed help with the discord server. I made the leader of the other clan (who we partnered with) the owner of the discord server for DreamChasers, so that way he could have owner privileges and help with the server. Later on, this proved to be a terrible decision, as we split and went our separate ways as clans and he would not give up the server. It took days of arguing and going back and forth and making a new server and frantically trying to get everyone into that server until finally I was able to get our original discord server back.

What’s the most wholesome moment you’ve witnessed in your clan?

The most wholesome moment I’ve ever witnessed in DreamChasers was when I had been hacked and the hacker got my #1 ranked in the world 1 defence pure 8 defence, and also stole over 5B in gold from me. I was completely devastated and seriously considering quitting over this. When I told my Clan the news, they all rushed to help me, offering to send money, offering to give gold, give their accounts, and anything they could do. One member even met me IRL and gave me some money to help with a new account.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve implemented in the clan over time?

Some changes that’ve been implemented over time in the Clan are:

1) We used to allow guests into the Clan Hall, however, after several people started to sneak into the hall during drop parties, we made it so only members can come into the hall now.

2) We now have a PK Team which is a separate role and channel in our discord server. It has worked out great so far and is good for our PKers who were wanting some organization with the PKing and wilderness activities.

3) We started making it so new members of the discord server need to verify themselves by filling out a ticket and then saying who invited them so we can verify their identity. This was done to stop trolls and dox’ers from entering the server and going undetected.

How do you handle recruitment and ensure new members fit well with the clan’s culture?

Recruitment happens in several different ways. Sometimes in-game when we meet someone and feel they’d be a good fit, we will invite them. Or sometimes we meet people on Discord and add them there. Lately we have been receiving people from FaceBook, where our Clan is getting more and more attention as a top active OSRS clan at the moment. We are extremely welcoming in DreamChasers to new members. I always stress to the admins and OG’s of the Clan to treat the new members well, because they are the most important. Everyone was new at one point, and they are the ones who will in turn remain loyal and become OG’s and maybe admin ranks one day.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Although being a Clan owner has been more responsibility than I imagined it would be at first, I’ve grown in this position and I can say it has made me a more responsible and honest person, a better person really. I really appreciate when people acknowledge the things I’ve done and amount of time, effort, and other things I’ve given and dedicated to this Clan. We have lots of great people who have helped me along the way and I could never have done it all myself either.

What’s the best way for players interested in joining your clan to contact you?

The best way to get ahold of me is on Discord. Username = “glocss” with 2 s’s. Add me there and I can invite you to the server that way. Also, you can add me on FaceBook. (Jimmy Gorsuch) and message me there. You can also ALWAYS join the clan as a guest by going to the green smiley faces in the in-game clan tab, and clicking “find another clan” and searching “DreamChasers”. It will then allow you to join our clan in-game, where you can speak by typing /// before what you wish to say.
