Old School RuneScape clans have been an unofficial thing for as long as the game existed, but in 2021 Jagex made it official and introduced the new clan system. While there are various platforms where you can find OSRS clans if you want to join one, this new OSRS Clan Spotlight series will bring you a different insight into what to expect from some of the top OSRS clans, with unique interviews with the clan leadership.

Hogs a Mud is coming to this week’s OSRS Clan Spotlight as a tight knit small clan that represents a supportive and friendly home for over 50 players! They’ve been there for each other for years, beyond the game, while in game they’re hosting regular events!
What inspired you to start your own clan in OSRS?
The inspiration to start our clan, “Hogs n Mud”, came from a desire to create a tight-knit community where players could enjoy Old School RuneScape together in a friendly and supportive environment. We wanted to build a space where players of all skill levels could find camaraderie and have fun, especially during challenging activities like raids and bossing.
What differentiates your clan from other clans in OSRS?
Our clan stands out because of our strong sense of community and our commitment to creating a fun atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed. We place a big emphasis on respect and inclusivity, ensuring that no racism or harmful behavior is tolerated. Our events, competitions, and rank-up system, which is based on active participation and achievements in-game and on Discord, set us apart from other clans.
How would you describe the overall culture and atmosphere of your clan?
The culture of “Hogs n Mud” is warm, welcoming, and supportive. We’re a clan that loves to have fun, whether through organized events or just hanging out in Discord. We strive to create a positive environment where members can enjoy the game and build lasting friendships.
Can you share a particularly memorable event that your clan has organized? One of the most memorable events we’ve organized was a clan-wide bossing marathon where members teamed up to take on as many different bosses as possible within a set time frame. It was incredible to see so many of our members come together, share strategies, and celebrate each other’s successes.
What types of events and activities does your clan regularly host?
We regularly host events such as raids, bossing, skill competitions, and mini-games. We also have monthly contests and giveaways that keep things exciting and encourage members to stay active.
What events haven’t you done already but are eager to host in the future? We’re looking forward to hosting clan bingo when it is introduced in the main game, as well as collaborations with other clans/ soulwars events.
What’s the biggest drama or conflict you’ve had to deal with as a clan owner, and how did you resolve it?
Thankfully, we haven’t faced any major drama or conflicts, but managing the different personalities in a growing community can sometimes be a challenge. We’ve always focused on clear communication and addressing issues directly to keep the peace and maintain a positive atmosphere.
What’s the most wholesome moment you’ve witnessed in your clan?
One of the most wholesome moments was when a long-time member who had to take a break for personal reasons was welcomed back with open arms. The outpouring of support and genuine happiness from the clan showed just how close-knit our community is. And seeing men go from dharrocks to full Torva is always fulfilling to see.
What are some of the biggest changes you’ve implemented in the clan over time?
As we’ve grown, we’ve implemented a more structured rank-up system and introduced new events to keep the clan engaged. We’ve also expanded our Discord server with more channels and features to accommodate our growing membership and their interests.
How do you handle recruitment and ensure new members fit well with the clan’s culture?
We’re careful with our recruitment process, making sure that new members share our values and are committed to contributing to our positive community. We often look for members who are recommended by current ones, and we have a probationary period to ensure they’re a good fit.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of being a clan owner for you personally?
The most rewarding aspect has been watching our community grow and seeing the friendships that have formed within the clan. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that we’ve built something that brings joy and support to so many people.
