With 23 skills in Old School RuneScape, Magic is… well… it’s a kind of magic, one dream, one soul, one prize, one goal! This skill is so useful and so diverse and it can be used both in combat and outside of combat. This makes it very unique and it appeals to so many players! Even though some Magic grinds are awful (definitely not speaking about the Mage training arena or imbuing god capes), so many players just love magic! So much so that they got it magically on their skin (the magic of ink!). While other scapers chose other of their favourite OSRS skills to get as tattoos, Magic just holds a special place among skills, so it just made sense to have it all in one place… Well that, and the fact that there are many Magic skill tattoos out there!

Skill icons bracelet
This scaper loves many skills, including Magic. The Magic icon is placed in between the cooking and prayer icons on the upper arm. All the icons are created to resemble the exact in game image and are small in size.
Magic cape tattoo
This scaper got a Magic cape and a strength cape tattooed. Both of these colourful tattoos are not exact copies of the in game items, but are close enough so that any scaper can recognize them and the personal touch added by the artist. They are the only magic and strength capes tattooed (as far as my research that covers over 500 different OSRS tattoos goes), but they are not the only cape tattoos.
Mysterious Magic Icon tattoo
Magic is the skill that is not only representative for itself, but it is closely tied with Runecraft, one of the most dreaded skills in OSRS. This is because to cast any spell you’ll need an assortment of runes. This is what makes runes stand at the border between Magic and Runecrafting, and probably why this scaper not only chose to get the Magic icon tattooed, but also some OSRS runes, all united by a mysterious design reminiscent of a black hole and the universe itself. Quite poetic if you think about it (and I never thought I’d say this about something that has no words).
92 is half 99 Magic tattoo
On top of the personalized design of the magic skill icon, this scaper also got the text “92 is half 99”, referring to the meme. The magic icon has an added glow and added shadows and slightly different colours than the in game version. The text is written in black in a fond that reminds me not of RuneScape, but of the too many horror movies I’ve watched as i can totally see it written in blood on a wall or mirror (just me?). The black used as a shadow for the magic skill icon purrfectly matches the boldness of the black font and connects the apparently very different elements (text and image) of the tattoo.
Magic icon and rune symbols tattoo
This tattoo plays on the same extreme importance of runes for the Magic skill in OSRS and places the icon in the middle of a series of rune symbols. The tattoo has thin and clean lines and colour fillings. The artist made use of subtle shading and highlights only for the icon and left the rune symbols in their minimalist and simple design. There are many other scapers who were got tattoos inspired by OSRS runes, so make sure to check those out as well.
Watercolour Magic Icon Tattoo
This watercolour tattoo brings to life a different representation of the Magic skill icon accompanied by a few artistically sketched runes that are great as simple outlines or could be later filled.
Teleport to Varrock Magic skill icon tattoo
This magic skill icon is created using an irregular thin outline and a heavily shadowed blue filling. Underneath there are the runes needed to cast the teleport to Varrock spell from the standard spellbook, as well as the text Varrock. It is a Magic skill tattoo, a rune tattoo, a spell tattoo, and a text tattoo all in one!
This scaper got the box from the skill tab displaying the Magic Icon skill together with the text “99/99”. The icon is created using different shades of blue for highlights and shadows and a bit of red and yellow for details, the box uses black ink for outlines and shading besides negative space, and the text uses yellow, black and white.
