Sarachnis is one of the many spider bosses in OSRS alongside Verzik Vitur (ToB), Araxxor, Spindel and Venenatis. She is one of not that many mid level bosses in the game. However, starting with the August 2024 game update she has become an afkable boss. Luckily, she is not hunted for big uniques, but for consistent good drops, so the fact that at higher levels she is now very afkable should not discourage lower level players from killing her. Together with the Kraken, Thermy, Rex, Prime, and KBD, she is one of the most afkable bosses in OSRS.

What makes Sarachnis AFKable
There is one piece of equipment that makes Sarachnis AFKable: the Aranea boots! This August 2024 item is dropped by the new slayer creatures, the araxytes. If you’re on an araxyte Slayer task you’re more likely to drop them than if you’re not. These boots fully negate Sarachnis sticky web attack that she uses to root players in place, forcing them to frequently swap from protect from melee to protect from missiles.
Aranea boots
While wearing these boots you will for the most part, force Sarachnis to stay only in your melee range since after you tag her (click her once to attack her), your character will automatically follow her to kill her. While you’re in her melee range she only attacks with melee. However, if you position your character on the outer square, you might still sometimes take a longer path than Sarachnis and receive a ranged attack after she launches her web attack. You will still take some damage from her spawns, but you will still be able to afk for around 50 seconds each kill. If you don’t currently have access to these boots, this method is not for you since it relies on the use of the aranea boots.
Gear
Besides the must have aranea boots, you should bring the best crush weapon you own together with the highest magic defence chest and legs and other melee boosting gear. An amulet of blood fury also helps lengthen the trips. The wiki always has an up to date gear table that can help you identify the best gear you own or that you’re willing to get.
Inventory setup
Bring a spec weapon, together with some (divine) super combat pots, prayer pots, a teleport in and a teleport out (this can be the same if using your POH). For extra efficiency bring thralls, though that would make the method more click intensive and less afk and would also lower your profits.
Do not bring a knife or Wilderness sword to slash the webs on your way to Sarachnis, since you will not need one because one of the aranea boots effects is to allow you to pass without a slash weapon.
Take an imbued heart with you to boost your magic stats so that you take even less damage from the magic spawn and prolong the trips.
Quick Prayer Setup
You will be in Sarachnis melee range for the duration of the entire fight, forcing her to attack you only using melee. One of her spawns also attacks using melee, so having the protect from melee prayer on is a must. On top of this, you will be attacking her with melee, so using Piety or Chivalry will help you. Just for worse case scenarios where you could die, have the protect item prayer on, so you minimize your death fee.
Additional considerations
Install the player indicator plugin to make sure there’s no one inside. Because she is so afkable, she’s now a very popular boss to kill so many worlds are already with a player. Make sure you don’t enter her room while another player is inside because she will send a range attack at you and make it harder to hop.
Turn off auto-retaliate before the fight because you want to be attacking Sarachnis and stay in her melee range. You don’t want your character to start running after a spawn and leave Sarachnis melee range since she will slap you with her ranged attack an d potentially kill you.
Step by Step AFK Sarachnis
- Turn off auto-retaliate
- Turn on your quick prayers
- drink your combat pot
- invigorate your imbued heart
- enter the room
- equip your spec weapon
- use your spec on Sarachnis
- swap to your crush weapon
- click on Sarachnis once
Once she is dead
- collect your loot
- drink your prayer and eat food if needed
- boost your stats again if needed
Once she respawns
- spec her if possible
- click her once
- enjoy your 50 seconds afk time
Actual AFK time
Your actual AFK time can vary greatly based on the gear you are using and levels. If your Prayer level is low you might need to take a sip of prayer pot during the fight. For example, at level 60 Prayer, you’ll get 50 seconds of AFK time, but you’ll get over two minutes at 99 with some Prayer bonus gear. Use this calculator to find out exactly how long your Prayer points will let you afk before you have to sip.
Lower levels with lower tier gear could take more than two minutes for a kill, so it’s important to keep in mind what you expect to happen first: the kill or the Prayer drop.
With this gear configuration I manage to kill Sarachnis in about 50 seconds consistently. If you’re gear is lower add to the time, if you’re gear is higher expect faster kills and less AFK time.
Tip!
If you’re using a two handed spec weapon such as the dragon claws it’s better to bring a bludgeon – also two handed, instead of a fang + avernic, simply because less clicks to spec.
