I had a mind blowing moment when I realized that “cape” is one of the few words that appear in the title of the game, Old School RunesCAPE. No wonder there’s a cape for every skill and some other extra very important capes, like the fire cape, the infernal cape, or the imbued god capes. Other scapers figured out the importance of “cape” in RuneScape long before me, and surely enough they found enough inspiration as to wear their favourite capes right on their skin as tattoos.

The design uses solid colors with orange and red tones, creating the iconic cheese-like texture of the fire cape. Outlined in a clean and thin black line, the cape shape is simple yet immediately recognizable. The placement on the forearm allows for the elongated cape design to be fully displayed.

This tattoo features two iconic capes from Old School RuneScape depicted in a minimalistic and pixelated style. The characters are rendered in a solid, bold color style with clean lines. Above the capes, there’s a stylized “RuneScape” logo and a sword in a floating, circular font add an additional nostalgic element. Below the capes, the text “Runescape taught me more than school ever did” is written in simple uppercase block letters. Frog Guthix Imbued Max Cape Tattoo

When it comes to capes in RuneScape the frog is the limit. Or was it the sky? Regardless, this scaper got a tattoo with a RuneScape frog wearing the helm of Neitiznot, a dragon dagger and an imbued Guthix Imbued Max Cape… what a weird choice of gear… The tattoo is complex, with blocks of colour and a thin black outline, some shading and loads of details.
Thieving Cape Tattoo

Some players love getting matching tattoos. So is the case for these two who got their own thieving cape tattoos in a similar spot on the leg.
Prayer Tattoo

This amazing prayer cape tattoo is placed on the inner forearm. You might have seen it together with other skilling tattoos. It celebrates 10 years of playing OSRS. The tattoo is complex with many elements, advanced shading and negative space for contrast around the cape and loads of details on the wings of the character. It also has straight clean lines that create a container for the character and the cape.

This max infernal cape tattoo is placed on the inner forearm. The design has a great amount of details, fine lines, advanced shading, and realistic lava patterns that make the best in slot cape stand out.
Inner forearm Infernal Max Cape Tattoo

The inner forearm seems to be a favourite rack for capes IRL. This is another infernal max cape which has a different design and which uses different techniques to bring to life the same item. This cape uses darker and bold colours on a more yellowish tone.
Infernal Cape Tattoo

This infernal cape tattoo is placed on the leg and it is created using bold colours like red and orange contrasted by black. The tattoo is clean and sharp with loads of details especially on the lava part of the cape. The artist used dotwork to recreate the moving lava patterns of the infernal cape.
Infernal Cape Tattoo

This tattoo is a smaller version of the same infernal cape. The minimalistic style of the tattoo with very little shading, but sharp clean lines and solid blocks of colours capture the iconic image of the infernal cape and bring it to life on this scaper’s calf.

This max cape tattoo was done with the dotwork technique. The artist beautifully placed a lower density of dots to create the lighter parts of the cape, and a higher density of ink dots to create the darker parts of the cape.
Magic and Strength Cape Tattoo

This scaper got not one, but two capes on their leg: the magic cape and the strength cape. Both tattoos are created using simple black lines for the outline and details, solid colours, and subtle shading. The magic cape is done with blue, grey, and yellow ink, and the strength cape is done with red, green, and beige.
Magic and Strength Cape Tattoo

When Magic is your favourite skill, it becomes obvious. This tattoo shows a character wearing a magic cape, an ancestral hat, and an arcane spirit shield. The tattoo is created against the background of a brick wall to make the character and the cape pop out. The artist used advanced shading and detailing for a 3D look.
Woodcutting Cape Tattoo

This is a detailed tattoo resembling the woodcutting cape. It was created to cover up a different tattoo and the scaper who got it admits: “woodcutting is my fav skill and it was my first 99 and first 120 and 200m so had to get it done. It was a cover up”.
Ironman Max Cape tattoo

This tattoo puts together three different elements: an ironman icon, a max cape, and the text “Fe Schrute 6 9 23” which could symbolize either an in memory message or the date when they got their max cape. Further research was not conclusive, but there is a small youtube channel with this name and the last video is 4 years ago. I couldn’t locate them on the hiscores and WiseOldman doesn’t seem to hold much info either. Their X account linked on their youtube was also removed…
